The Nursing Alumni Association of SUNY Upstate Medical University awarded 12 scholarships of $1,000 each to College of Nursing students who have demonstrated academic excellence, professional/community leadership and other eligibility criteria. This is in addition to the $6,000 given to Upstate for fall admission scholarships.  The following Upstate nursing students received these 2013 scholarships:

Pramila Adhikari, Syracuse, Edgar and Josephine Olson Parental Nursing Scholarship; Dawn Burr, Central Square, Phyllis Balk Memorial Scholarship;  Delphine Hyppolite, Liverpool, Jorge Grimes Nursing Scholarship; Elise Kelsh, Baldwinsville, Dean Janice Nelson Nursing Scholarship; Christine Kirkman, Fayetteville, Bess Buser, RN, MSHE, CPNP, Endowed Scholarship; Teresa Koulouris, Fayetteville, Suzanne Spaulding-Gehrke Nursing Scholarship; Frances Mosconi, Syracuse, Upstate Medical University Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship; Laurie Pollard, Ballston Spa, Upstate Medical University Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship; Nicole Quilty, Camillus, Colleen O’Leary, MD Endowed Scholarship; Patricia Roach, Ilion, Upstate Medical University Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship; Michele Rowsome, Liverpool, Carl Neuman Memorial Nursing Scholarship from the Eastwood Rotary; Julie Yankowsky, Fulton, Upstate Medical University Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship. 

The Upstate College of Nursing offers the bachelor’s degree in nursing; the master’s degree in nursing (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Family NP, Medical Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Educator and Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse); the Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP); as well as the Certificate for RN First Assistant, and Post-Master’s Advanced Certificates in Education and Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The Upstate nursing alumni comprise about 1,800 graduates who help sponsor continuing education programs, annual scholarships and other special alumni events.
